Sonnet’s Fusion R400P is an economical and easy-to-deploy solution for reliable, flexible, high-performance storage in studio, control room, and mobile installations. Based on the award-winning Fusion R400Q quad interface storage system, Fusion R400P features a fast eSATA interface and an integrated port multiplier(1) to manage the data flow from all four drives.
One Cable, All the Data
Fusion R400P enclosures employ a high performance SATA II port multiplier to manage the enclosed drives—just a single locking data cable connects the enclosure to a SATA host controller card. This efficient interface simplifies setup and cuts cable clutter while offering a significant improvement in data throughput speeds when compared with FireWire® 800, FireWire 400 or USB interfaces.
Maximum Performance, Maximum Convenience
Connected to a Sonnet Tempo™ SATA E4P PCIe or X4P PCI-X host controller installed in a Mac® or Windows® computer, a Fusion R400P’s drives are accessed through its port multiplier(2). With its drives configured as a RAID 0 striped set, a single Fusion R400P system can achieve data throughput of up to 220MB/sec(2), fast enough to support multiple streams of DV, HDV, DVCPRO, ProRes 422, or a single stream of uncompressed 10-bit NTSC video. Do you want even more performance? Up to four Fusion R400P systems can be ganged on a single Tempo SATA E4P or X4P controller for enhanced data throughput and double, triple, or even quadruple the available streams (as well as increasing the number of supported video formats). Performance, capacity, and RAID reliability are dependent on drive choice(2).
Versatile Performer
The 1U rackmount Fusion R400P system enclosure, at just 1.75" tall, is simple to install in most server racks. Drive presence and drive activity LED indicators are present on the front panel, so drive status can be determined at a glance. Fusion R400P sets up quickly and supports simple software-configured storage according to your needs: RAID 0(3) storage for speed, RAID 1 for redundancy, and JBOD for audio editing archiving. Fusion R400P is ideal for use in mixed environments—various operating systems, editing applications and output demands requiring the flexibility and interoperability that this storage system provides. Fusion storage systems support Mac OS® X, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Linux. They are compatible with capture cards from AJA, Blackmagic Design, Matrox, and Bluefish444, and work with all mainstream video editing applications including Apple® Final Cut Pro®, and Adobe® Premiere® Pro CS4.
